Following is repetition of telegram from Secretary of State for the Colonies for your information and guidance (begins) September 23rd. Prize Courts here have made following order in case of detained German ship "Varying" for Fiftythree two Appendix A Prize Court Rules 1914 (begins) The President having considered the evidence and having heard Mr.Rayner Goddard for the Crown pronounced the Yacht "Lasca" two to have belonged at the time of seizure thereof to enemies of the Crow and as such to have been lawfully seized by the officers of His Majesty's Customs at the port of Southampton as good and lawful prize and as droits and perquisites of H.M. the King in his office of Admiralty and thereupon upon application of Mr Rayner Goddard for the Crow, ordered the said ship to be detained by the Marshal till further order is issued by Court all question of costs reserved liberty to apply (ends). By this Order Court maintains control over vessel and can subsequently decree condemnation should occasion arise. Counsel represented that Crown should ask for similar order in suitable cases. follows by mail. Harcourts (ends).
